CLUB STATEMENT – 11/1/23

After a good few years of hard work behind the scenes, Winlaton Community FC are excited to announce that we have received a license to take on the running of the pitches at Axwell View, Winlaton.

We would like to show everyone our plans for the site. Our aim is to improve the land where the pitches are, creating a new hub for the local community.

We have been in discussion with Gateshead Council for a lengthy period over future plans for the site. The council have recently ended their role in looking after local sports pitches due to budget cuts. We feel as a local community club it is our duty to residents and the younger generation to save our pitches and green area while also improving them so the local area will have a first class sports facility the community can be proud of.

We have no plans to stop access to the site, the whole community will still be able to use the playing fields and also exercise there, walking etc.

In the short time of looking after the pitches we have already noticed a number of problems with littering, dog fouling and wheel tracks on the pitch which has caused u15/u16s games to be postponed. We please ask for you to respect the area and help us improve the community.

Any queries or concerns about our plans please get in touch with us at winlatoncommunityfootballclub@gmail.com
